Where you post, a hundred others have been. All of them with well-spoken and "objective" reports. Hammering on the points, facts, and truths in order to reshape reality into perception and share that perception with the rest of us. My only interest here isn't what you've said, but whether you believe it yourself.
I don't expect nor want an answer.. but I know you have one. When you remove your hands from the keyboard to stop and breathe, some part of you is either shaking its head or crying out in laughter. The only thing you might ever admit to us, is that you're having terrible fun here. Notice how you're not being taken with absolute seriousness in this thread? People aren't new to this, and your forum history would suggest you aren't either. Hey guess what, we're all having fun James 315. Lets have some laughs together..
If our group of players; whose only true calling in EVE is to create intergalactic war has failed, despite the thousands of ships being destroyed on a monthly basis.. I question your definition of failure. I question whether you even know what game this is, and how its played. Failure in EVE is either complete annihilation (which your post proudly proclaims hasn't happened yet), or being coerced in to being someone's biatch. Otherwise, we all pay the same $15 and respawn an infinite number of times. So..
What does it say about an alliance that claims to play differently and have more fun than the rest of us, when they are coerced into playing EVE like everyone else? What does it say about that alliance when they've managed to attain astonishing new levels of hypocrisy, and taken the game to new extremes of seriousness never before achieved in the realm of western MMORPG gaming?
Surely it must speak volumes of this alliance when their own kind thinks they're full of it, and condemns them in the must public and humiliating ways possible? Or when their leader retreats from the arena behind a veil of words like every other failed megalomaniac in the history of EVE? I don't know James 315, I could even go on and talk about more tangible things you'd understand. Like playing the conquest game and setting up "free" trade zones. Having capital programs, bandwagons, and all the crappy nuances associated with politics and 0.0 life. Stuff like that.
But more to the point I will simply compare this alliance's current affliction to nothing more than Stockholm Syndrome. A psychological condition that lets victims identify with their aggressors. A survival mechanism for people who try to understand when bad things happen to them. The result of being bent over repeatedly and used for the entertainment of others.
Doing all that would require naming this alliance, and risk associating them to an ideal that died last September. I wouldn't feel right in helping people go on pretending, even if you are. Besides.. I already have a good feeling that anyone reading this comedic paraphrasing of one alliance's existence knows exactly who I'm talking about. Ah hell, can't resist..
There are no goons, just an alliance called GoonSwarm.
Say hi to all your predecessors for me James 315, I miss every one of them. Looking forward to seeing what crazy new characters come preaching here next year.
